Vancouver-Quilchena election riding preview

VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Vancouver-Quilchena when Andrew Wilkinson of the BC Liberal Party took 55.96 per cent of the vote, defeating Madeline Lalonde of the NDP by a margin of 27.93 percentage points.
Wilkinson, who is the party's leader, is up for re-election this year. Lalonde, however, is not running again.
Heather McQuillan is the candidate for the NDP and Michael Barkusky is running for the Green party.
The Vancouver-Quilchena riding is located in Vancouver.
There are 38,237 registered voters in the riding, compared to 35,878 in the last election.
As of Oct. 20, 10,981 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.
The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 62.39 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.
At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
