VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Victoria-Beacon Hill when Carole James of the NDP took 53.05 per cent of the vote, defeating Kalen Harris of the Green party by a margin of 22.67 percentage points.

James, who served as the deputy premier and finance minister, isn't seeking re-election this year. Harris is not running again either.

The NDP is running Grace Lore as its candidate, Jenn Neilson is the candidate for the Green party and Karen Bill is running for the BC Liberal Party.

Jordan Reichert is running as an Independent.

The Victoria-Beacon Hill riding is located in Victoria.

There are 48,772 registered voters in the riding, compared to 47,321 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 18,363 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 64.2 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
