Coquitlam-Burke Mountain election riding preview

VANCOUVER — It was a tight race in the last election in Coquitlam-Burke Mountain when Joan Isaacs of the BC Liberal Party took 44.28 per cent of the vote, defeating Jodie Wickens of the NDP by a margin of 0.37 percentage points.

Isaacs is up for re-election this year. Wickens, however, is not running again.

Adam Bremner-Akins is the candidate for the Green party and Fin Donnelly is running for the NDP.

The Coquitlam-Burke Mountain riding is located in Vancouver.

There are 45,503 registered voters in the riding, compared to 41,133 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 9,572 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 57.46 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
