Health officials in New Brunswick report 111 new cases of COVID-19

FREDERICTON โ€” Health officials in New Brunswick say 10 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed today in schools and child-care facilities in the province, with the majority in the Moncton region.

They say 80 per cent of active cases within schools are in elementary schools.

Officials reported 111 new cases of the virus in the province today, increasing the total number of active cases to 781.

There are 43 people hospitalized, including 18 people in intensive care.

Eleven people are on ventilators.

Eight of the people hospitalized were initially admitted for other reasons and contracted COVID-19 due to outbreaks at hospitals in Moncton, Saint John and Miramichi.
