New Brunswick reports one death, 53 new COVID-19 cases

FREDERICTON — Health officials in New Brunswick are reporting another death attributed to COVID-19 as well as 53 new cases in the province.

Premier Blaine Higgs expressed his condolences in a statement to the family of a person in their 70s in the Campbellton region who died, bringing the number of COVID-19-related deaths in the province to 91.

The province also added 138 recoveries, dropping the number of active cases to 849.  

Authorities say there are currently 61 people hospitalized, including 20 in intensive care.  

Positive cases have been confirmed in child-care facilities in Moncton and Campbellton.   

Free rapid COVID-19 tests are available across the province for people aged two and older.
