New Brunswick reports 76 new infections and 49th COVID-19-related death

FREDERICTON — Health officials in New Brunswick say a person in their 80s in Fredericton is the 49th resident to die of COVID-19.

Officials are also reporting 76 new cases of COVID-19 today and they say 76 per cent of them involve people who are not fully vaccinated.

New Brunswick has 557 active reported cases of COVID-19 and 26 people in hospital with the disease, including 15 in intensive care.   

Positive cases have been confirmed in schools and child-care facilities in the Fredericton, Edmundston and Campbellton regions.  

Outbreak-management teams have been activated at 15 locations in the province, including at numerous nursing homes and in the territory of Tobique First Nation.  

About 78.1 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and 86.8 per cent have received at least one dose.
