VANCOUVER โ Vernon-Monashee election results as of Oct. 24, 2020 at 11:28 p.m.:
Eric Foster of the BC Liberal Party is leading Harwinder Sandhu of the NDP by 187 votes in Vernon-Monashee. Foster won 6,791 out of 19,369 votes (35.06 per cent) with 120 of 122 polls reporting.
Harwinder Sandhu of the NDP won 6,604 votes (34.10 per cent). Keli Westgate of the Green party won 3,145 votes (16.24 per cent). Kyle Delfing of the Conservative party won 2,829 votes (14.61 per cent).
As of 11:28 p.m., The Canadian Press is projecting the BC NDP has won a majority government. The party has won or is leading in 55 of 87 seats. The BC Liberal Party has won or is leading in 29, and the BC Green Party has won or is leading in three seats.
As of Oct. 23, 8,747 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters in the riding. There are a total of 47,373 registered voters in Vernon-Monashee.
Provincewide, 724,279 mail-in ballots have been sent out, and there are 3,485,858 registered voters.
Mail-in ballots will be counted by hand, starting in 13 days.
