VANCOUVER — Surrey-White Rock election results as of Oct. 24, 2020 at 11:26 p.m.:

Trevor Halford of the BC Liberal Party has been elected as the new MLA in Surrey-White Rock, a riding that was previously vacant. Halford won 6,840 out of 16,903 counted votes (40.47 per cent) with 103 of 110 polls reporting.

Bryn Smith of the NDP won 6,111 votes (36.15 per cent). Beverly (Pixie) Hobby of the Green party won 2,495 votes (14.76 per cent). Megan Knight, an Independent, won 1,108 votes (6.56 per cent). Jason Bax of the Libertarian party won 349 votes (2.06 per cent).

As of 11:26 p.m., The Canadian Press is projecting the BC NDP has won a majority government. The party has won or is leading in 55 of 87 seats. The BC Liberal Party has won or is leading in 29, and the BC Green Party has won or is leading in three seats.

As of Oct. 23, 11,206 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters in the riding. There are a total of 41,409 registered voters in Surrey-White Rock.

Provincewide, 724,279 mail-in ballots have been sent out, and there are 3,485,858 registered voters.

Mail-in ballots will be counted by hand, starting in 13 days.
