Vancouver-Langara election riding preview

VANCOUVER — In the last election in Vancouver-Langara, Michael Lee of the BC Liberal Party took 47.46 per cent of the vote, defeating James Wang of the NDP by a margin of 9.40 percentage points.

Lee is up for re-election this year. Wang, however, is not running again.

Stephanie Hendy is the candidate for the Green party and Tesicca Truong is running for the NDP.

Also in the race is Paul Matthews for the Libertarian party.

The Vancouver-Langara riding is located in Vancouver.

There are 41,308 registered voters in the riding, compared to 37,754 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 9,725 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 56.44 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
