Vancouver-Kingsway election riding preview

VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Vancouver-Kingsway when Adrian Dix of the NDP took 60.62 per cent of the vote, defeating Trang Nguyen of the BC Liberal Party by a margin of 33.53 percentage points.

Dix, who served as the minister of health, is up for re-election this year. Nguyen, however, is not running again.

Cole Anderson is the candidate for the BC Liberal Party and Scott Bernstein is running for the Green party.

Also in the race is Karin Litzcke for the Libertarian party.

The Vancouver-Kingsway riding is located in Vancouver.

There are 40,926 registered voters in the riding, compared to 37,521 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 7,962 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 53.35 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
