Vancouver-Fraserview election riding preview

VANCOUVER — In the last election in Vancouver-Fraserview, George Chow of the NDP took 48.57 per cent of the vote, defeating Suzanne Anton of the BC Liberal Party by a margin of 6.35 percentage points.

Chow, who served as the minister of state for trade, is up for re-election this year. Anton, however, is not running again.

David Grewal is the candidate for the BC Liberal Party and Françoise Raunet is running for the Green party.

The Vancouver-Fraserview riding is located in Vancouver.

There are 43,160 registered voters in the riding, compared to 39,479 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 9,763 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 60.55 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
