Vancouver-False Creek election riding preview

VANCOUVER — It was a tight race in the last election in Vancouver-False Creek when Sam Sullivan of the BC Liberal Party took 42.16 per cent of the vote, defeating Morgane Oger of the NDP by a margin of 1.69 percentage points.

Sullivan is up for re-election this year. Oger, however, is not running again.

The NDP is running Brenda Bailey as its candidate, Erik Gretland is the candidate for the Conservative party and Maayan Kreitzman is running for the Green party.

Also in the race is Naomi Chocyk for the Libertarian party.

The Vancouver-False Creek riding is located in Vancouver.

There are 47,916 registered voters in the riding, compared to 44,508 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 13,365 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 55.68 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
