Richmond North Centre election riding preview

VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Richmond North Centre when Teresa Wat of the BC Liberal Party took 52.48 per cent of the vote, defeating Lyren Chiu of the NDP by a margin of 18.44 percentage points.

Wat is up for re-election this year. Chiu, however, is not running again.

Jaeden Dela Torre is the candidate for the NDP and Vernon Wang is running for the Green party.

The Richmond North Centre riding is located in Metro Vancouver.

There are 37,190 registered voters in the riding, compared to 31,695 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 6,658 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 48.06 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
