Prince George-Valemount election riding preview

VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Prince George-Valemount when Shirley Bond of the BC Liberal Party took 58.20 per cent of the vote, defeating Natalie Fletcher of the NDP by a margin of 28.63 percentage points.

Bond is up for re-election this year. Fletcher, however, is not running again.

Laura Parent is the candidate for the NDP and Mackenzie Kerr is running for the Green party.

Also in the race is Sean Robson for the Libertarian party.

The Prince George-Valemount riding is located in Prince George.

There are 36,700 registered voters in the riding, compared to 34,205 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 4,563 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 56.75 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
