Langley East election riding preview

VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Vancouver-Fairview when Rich Coleman of the BC Liberal Party took 53.45 per cent of the vote, defeating Inder Johal of the NDP by a margin of 25.31 percentage points.

Coleman is not running for re-election. Johal is running in Abbotsford South. 

The Green party is running Cheryl Wiens as its candidate, The BC Liberal Party is running Margaret Kunst as its candidate, Megan Dykeman is the candidate for the NDP and Ryan Warawa is running for the Conservative party.

Also in the race is Alex Joehl for the Libertarian party.

Tara Reeve is running as an Independent.

The Langley East riding is located in Vancouver.

There are 52,882 registered voters in the riding, compared to 47,730 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 11,799 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 64.54 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
