Two women arrested for inciting hate speech against Indigenous Canadians on social media

By Marina Wang

RCMP announced the arrest of two women in Flin Flon, Manitoba, for “hateful and threatening language against residents of First Nations communities” earlier this week.

The threats appeared on a Facebook page following a spate of vandalism to vehicles and property. The police have not announced the names of the persons arrested, as the charges have not been sworn in a court of law, but a screen-shot of their conversation identifies the names of the perpetrators.

One woman, Raycine Chaisson, suggested having a 24-hour purge. Another woman, Destine Spiller, responded with “it’s time to keep the animals locked up or shoot a Indian day!” Chaisson then agreed and wrote “Lets grab Budweiser and some shotguns”.

A third alleged perpetrator is also pending arrest, and all three have been cooperating with police. Spiller has lost her job over the incident and has since apologised.

Bobby Cameron, chief of the Federation of Sovereign Inidgenous Nations, lauded the arrests in a statement. “This life threatening attitude must be stopped and those guilty of it must be charged for a hate crime and it must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” he wrote. “We will no longer tolerate these blatant acts and statements of racism in Canada.”

Hate speech targeting Indigenous persons are all but new: the CBC was forced to shut down its comments section for  Indigenous news as racist vitriol grew out-of-hand. Canada’s racist hate speech problem was also made apparent following the death of Colten Boushie, a 22-year-old Cree man who was killed on a farm in northern Manitoba.

Wouldnt a notification to Facebook and deleting the ramblings of a bunch of childish idiots have been a far more useful way of dealing with this racist garbage?

A police investigation? Charges? Hate crime?
    Really? Really?

The old adage “Children should be seen and not heard” is more appropriate.
Banned from Facebook for life will be a far more serious “punishment” than the Court ordered “sensitivity training” and “community hours” handled out by the milksop Canadian “justice system”.
For voice their opinions ( albeit disgusting opinion)
Some people are stupid , narrow minded idiots and you cant legislate people to be smart so why are we wasting everyone’s ( taxpayers) time with this drivel.

Delete the Facebook postings, ban them from Facebook, case closed.
But no. We’ll spend thousands of dollars on the police, the Courts the lawyers and in the end….these idiots will still think what they want to think….only they’ll be quiet about it.
And what about their friends who see how they’ve been rail roaded through the “justice system” which is now telling people what they can say and where they can say it.

Politically correct legislative garbage that belongs right next to the garbage these people spewed out on the internet.

But I better be careful. I might be accused of a “hate crime” and “hate speech” for voicing my opinion that this is a waste of taxpayers money.

George Orwell must be spinning in his grave at the “Thought Police” telling people what to think.

And since It seems THINKPOL is avoiding the Real estate meltdown in the Lowermainland for reasons known only to themselves and possible the BC Real Estate association.

I’ll post another link in the endlessly downward spiralling garbage heap the local Real Estate market has sunk to…. Langley condos anyone?

ANOTHER interest rate INCREASE in Sept ?
Is the Bank of Canada crazy or are they just trying to slow the ponzi Real estate train before it jumps the tracks?
        Lets face it.
A planned derailment of the Real estate cartel’s ” it always goes up up up” bs needed to be stopped.

Interest rates to be 4.5 % by next year with the B20 “stress test” forcing people to qualify at 6% rates if they need financing…….
        Moo hoo haa haa haaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

It just gets better and better for the buyers out there willing to wait a year or more until this nightmare hits …..rock bottom.
Unfortunately a few over extended realtors will have to starve.
“Hello? Canada Revenue? I’m sorry I didnt make that quarterly tax payment but I havent sold ANYTHING in over 10 months…..”

I fully agree with you, with the lack of real estate info. I use to always enjoy their stories with what is really happening in the markets. Time to find anther site to read. It’s to bad.

        Yup.
I’m thinking the Real Estate commission threatened them with a lawsuit.
        Their Usual tactic.

But it wont stop the absolutely TRUE FACTS that SALES ARE TANKING!
EVERYWHERE in BC, and Canada !

Get ready realtors because when the buyers you have F###ed over the last decade start a multi billion dollar class action lawsuit because of the spin and fabrication of sales stats….. becomes a nightmare you cant escape………Revenue Canada will be waiting in the wings…..

Gee kinda like the lawsuits you realtor associations constantly file to stop people from giving real numbers to housing sales? Not the numbers you sales commission shills want to promote.
SCUM is too nice a word.

        Happy Housing Crash Everyone!
