Free salsa and bachata classes this Sunday in Vancouver

Vancouver’s favourite Latin dance community wants to teach you how to dance salsa and bachata for free this Sunday, and we’ve got everything you need to show up and hit the floor!

Rueda de la Vida runs free beginner classes every Sunday at their studio at 76 W 6th Avenue. Salsa kicks off at 5 p.m., followed by a free beginner bachata class at 6 p.m. — and once the lessons wrap, the studio opens up for social dancing until 9 p.m. A full evening, all for free.

Instructors Ananya, Ena, and Samy have a gift for making total beginners feel at home on the dance floor. You’ll start with the basics and build from there, and you don’t have to worry if you’ve never danced a step in your life — that’s exactly who these classes are for! And for anyone nervous about showing up solo, don’t be. No partner is needed. All you need is yourself.

Then the real fun starts — two hours of social dancing where you actually get to use what you just learned, in a room full of people who were in your exact shoes an hour before.

Rueda de la Vida has been building Vancouver’s Latin dance community since 2015, and the Sunday sessions fill up every week. Register free at dancefloor.social before the spots are gone.

Flat-soled shoes and water. See you on the floor!
