Health officials in Prince Edward Island report 230 new COVID-19 cases

CHARLOTTETOWN — Health officials in Prince Edward Island are reporting 230 new cases of COVID-19 today.

They say there are 1,922 active infections on the Island.

There are seven people in hospital with the disease, including one in intensive care. 

Officials are monitoring a number of outbreaks across the province, including at the Provincial Correctional Centre, where three inmates and three staff members have tested positive.

Anyone who experiences symptoms is encouraged to isolate until they can be tested.

About 92.4 per cent of Islanders aged 12 and over have received two doses of vaccine while more than 25,000 residents have received a booster shot.
