VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Vancouver-Fairview when George Heyman of the NDP took 54.12 per cent of the vote, defeating Gabe Garfinkel of the BC Liberal Party by a margin of 22.27 percentage points.

Heyman, who served as the minister of environment and climate change strategy, is up for re-election this year. Garfinkel, however, is not running again.

George Affleck is the candidate for the BC Liberal Party and Ian Goldman is running for the Green party.

Also in the race is Sandra Filosof-Schipper for the Libertarian party.

The Vancouver-Fairview riding is located in Vancouver.

There are 45,460 registered voters in the riding, compared to 45,343 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 15,318 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 65.79 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
