VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Surrey-White Rock when Tracy Redies of the BC Liberal Party took 49.87 per cent of the vote, defeating Niovi Patsicakis of the NDP by a margin of 19.28 percentage points.
The seat is currently empty following Redies resignation in August 2020. Patsicakis is not running again either.
The Green party is running Beverly (Pixie) Hobby as its candidate, Bryn Smith is the candidate for the NDP and Trevor Halford is running for the BC Liberal Party.
Also in the race is Jason Bax for the Libertarian party.
Megan Knight is running as an Independent.
There are 44,326 registered voters in the riding, compared to 42,303 in the last election.
As of Oct. 20, 11,206 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.
The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 67.13 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.
At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
