REGINA — Saskatchewan NDP leader Ryan Meili is criticizing the government for raising home-care fees.
Meili said at a campaign stop in Regina today that it's a dangerous move during a pandemic.
As of Oct. 1, the Saskatchewan Health Authority increased costs for home- care services that could see seniors pay an extra $300 a year.
Meili says if the New Democrats win the provincial election on Monday, they will spend $50 million to improve care that helps keep seniors in their homes.
He says the money would go toward hiring 700 more staff to provide medical, cleaning, cooking and repair assistance many seniors need to remain independent for as long as possible.
The NDP leader is to appear in Saskatoon later today to speak about his party's plan to reduce class sizes.
