VANCOUVER — It was a tight race in the last election in Richmond-Queensborough when Jas Johal of the BC Liberal Party took 41.43 per cent of the vote, defeating Aman Singh of the NDP by a margin of 0.68 percentage points.
Johal is up for re-election this year. Singh is running as well.
Earl Einarson is the candidate for the Green party and Kay Hale is running for the Conservative party.
The Richmond-Queensborough riding includes the community of Ladner.
There are 39,788 registered voters in the riding, compared to 35,911 in the last election.
As of Oct. 20, 6,794 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.
The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 55.78 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.
At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
