Kamloops-South Thompson election riding preview

VANCOUVER — It was a landslide victory in the last election in Kamloops-South Thompson when Todd Stone of the BC Liberal Party took 55.78 per cent of the vote, defeating Nancy Bepple of the NDP by a margin of 33.88 percentage points.

Stone is up for re-election this year. Bepple, however, is not running again.

Anna Thomas is the candidate for the NDP and Dan Hines is running for the Green party.

The Kamloops-South Thompson riding includes the communities of Kamloops, Dallas and Chase.

There are 46,345 registered voters in the riding, compared to 43,139 in the last election.

As of Oct. 20, 8,137 vote-by-mail packages had been issued to registered voters.

The previous voter turnout rate in the riding was 64.6 per cent, compared to 61.18 per cent provincewide.

At dissolution, the NDP held 41 seats, the BC Liberal Party had 41 seats and the Green party two seats. Two seats were held by Independents and one seat was vacant.
